US navy accuses Iran of provocation - 07 Jan 08
The Pentagon has accused Iran of "serious provocation" after its navy's ships were "harassed" by Iranian boats. The incident has increased tensions between the two countries days before George Bush visits the Middle East.

Georgian commander speaks about provocation

Commander of Georgian Peacekeeping forces says the last night incident in Tskhinvali conflict region was a provocation aiming at causing Georgian and Russian soldiers to come into a collision with each other. Shootout in the conflict zone lasted whole 15 minutes and reportedly, the fire was opened from the Russian check point in the Tamarasheni village towards Georgian peacekeepers. No one has been injured, but some houses were damaged.
Georgian side asserts that the fire was opened by the separatists and the goal of the provocation was to cause a clash between Russian and Georgian peacemakers.

"Dying Bush Administration Launches British Provocation Against Russia"
November 13, 2008 (LPAC)--With two months to go in office, the British patsies in the Bush Administration decided to take one last stab at confrontation with Russia, over the European deployment of components of its ballistic missile defense system. Suddenly, after months of dormancy, a "new offer" was made to the Russians. This new "offer" was immediately attacked by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, who stated that his government would rather wait until the Obama Administration is in office, before continuing any dialogue with the U.S. He said there would then be a "more flexible approach." (The Democratic-controlled Congress has refused to fund the European BMD deployment for the past two years).
Reportedly, what the U.S. was "offering" was that Russian troops would have access to the Czech and Polish missile defense sites. But the U.S. has no business "offering" this access, since these are sovereign countries, which would have to invite the Russians, a highly unlikely prospect.
State Department official John Rood will soon be off, again, to Russia to "negotiate." This is nothing but an effort to make sure the incoming Administration inherits the worst possible U.S.-Russian relations, which benefits no one but the Brutish Empire.

November 13, 2008 (LPAC)--Two more Heads of State are making clear that from what they can see, institutions are positioning themselves to ensure that the November 15 summit changes nothing.
In a press conference with Brazilian President Lula da Silva in Rome yesterday, Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi said that at the summit each leader will have a tiny amount of time to speak, and therefore he decided to concentrate on asking that banks guarantee the same amount of credit to the economy they used to do before the crisis--by default an indication that he does not expect much to come out of the meeting. Addressing trade unionists in Rome the same day, Lula also told his audience the summit was only a beginning--"Don't expect much from the G-20."
Berlusconi also warned against any new "missile crisis," the flip side of the British-Bush fierce determination to sabotage a global agreement on a New Bretton Woods, by provoking world war, if necessary.
If he were asked to give one piece of advice to President-elect Obama, Berlusconi said he would tell him: do not continue the escalation in the negative relationship between the West and the Russian Federation.
He reiterated this warning in an interview with La Stampa today. "For both of us [himself and Lula], the most important issue is to solve the missile crisis between the USA and Russia. Maybe it is even more important than the financial crisis," he said. There is a "threat to go back to the Cold War. This is crazy!" Foreign Minister Frattini addressed the same issue in an interview with La Repubblica today, calling for NATO to reflect upon "enlargement to Ukraine and Georgia." NATO has taken a decision in Bucharest and cannot go back, he said, but this does not mean that we must accelerate that decision.
