Rebuilding Railways - Eritrea

Antiquated, iron trains have stood abandoned for 20 years during Eritrea's war with Ethiopia. Now an army of veteran rail workers and their new apprentices are coaxing them back to life.
The Eritrean people are determined to reconstruct their dilapidated railway without any outside help. In the hot, dusty hills, they rescue the old rails from bunkers used during the war. All 169,000 steel sleepers have to be dug up from the ground, straightened and hauled back to the original track. They aim to complete 120 km of track, snaking from the coast to the capital. Transport Minister, Giorgis Teklemikael, says Eritrea's self-reliance and 'can do' philosophy will prevail. A train operating between Massawa and its suburbs is the first sign of success.

Brazilian railways 8
Train from FCA (Ferrovia Centro-Atlantica, private railway company) carrying old locomotives (read "our taxes converted into scrap metal") in downtown Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Note the restaurant-car, in good conditions yet. Probably will be part of a future railway museum, planned to be installed inside the building of historic Barao de Maua station (visible on the background).

Model Railways-The Vintage Train
The revamped Hornby Dean Single "Lorna Doone" with two vintage coaches. Only 2000 of these were made by Hornby mine being number 1594. What a pity they didn't see fit to re engineer the tender wheels which are still the old course Triang ones. I replaced mine with some from an old Bachmann tender and whilst still not correct they are do run a lot better. Did Hornby expect only collectors to buy these ? The train is running on the Laura Gardens branch.

The Railways Of Sodor Episode 3 Really Bad Day
(CONTAINS SOME SWEARING) The Breakdown Cranes are ready, so Thomas races to recover Duck but on the way to the works the crane is set too high and they smash into a tunnel mouth, as a result Thomas's driver is shaken from the footplate and is thus a runnaway. Because of the delays James has to pull a goods train, much to his dismay.
