Sh'ma Ysrael - TallChai
from the Fathers Day Jam, my daughter TallChai plays and sings this hebrew song "Sh'ma Ysrael" by joel chernoff and i throw a little StratWork in at her behest ;o)
Joel Chernoff is a Singer-songwriter and Messianic Jew, who is a founder member of the music group Lamb.
Joel was brought up in the 1950s and 1960s as part of one of the very few Messianic households. He considered himself a "Believer". But it wasn't until the late 60's revival, known as the Jesus Movement, that Joel had a truly life-changing experience while he was a student at the University of Cincinnati.
Joel had been raised on hit parade music and at 16 he found he had a gift for writing songs. He played keyboards in a five-man band that became popular at churches, youth rallies and other community events throughout his teens. In 1972 Joel formed the group Lamb. Lamb, whose music soon came to be known as simply Messianic Music, quickly became one of the premier groups of the new movement that was sweeping the country. Recording on national labels, as well as their own independent imprint, Lamb recorded a total of 14 albums over two decades. With Lamb's break-up in 1992, Joel focused his energies into several prominent organizations within the Messianic Jewish movement. Joel is currently the General Secretary of the Messianic Jewish Alliance of America (MJAA) and also president of the International Messianic Jewish Alliance (IMJA). In 1996, a charitable organization, the MJAA Joseph Project, was founded. Joel Chernoff chairs the Project, which provides food, clothing, and other neccesities to poverty stricten Israelis.
As of 2005 Lamb have reformed, with fellow Messianic artist Ted Pearce.
Joel has a brother David (aged 54), who is a Messianic Rabbi at Congregation Beth Yeshua in Philadelphia. They are the sons of Martin and Yohanna Chernoff, the founders of Cincinnati's Beth Messiah messianic congregation.

Sh'ma Kolenu - Kol Nidre Service - Dorothea Fayne
Live performance of the Jewish prayer - Sh'ma Kolenu - sung "a capella" by Dorothea Fayne (Mezzo-Soprano) at the Heilandskirche in Berlin. The paintings of Peter Becker from Berlin - Pankow are seen in the background.
The prayer -- Shemah Kolenu -- is part of the daily "Selichot Service" of the Jewish
people. The word -- Selichot -- comes from the Hebrew word -- Salach -- which means "fogiveness." Every day of the year, except on the Sabbath and on the Jewish New Year -- Rosh Hashanah - these prayers of forgiveness (including Shemah Kolenu) are recited in the Jewish liturgy.
On Yom Kippur -- the most holy day of the year for the Jewish people -- the Ark (where the Torah is kept) is opened for the entire recitation of the Selichot Service. The people, who are able to stand, do so for the entire service. Sometimes this service may last as long as one hour long.
The composers of these supplications of the Selichot Service are among the most notable of Talmudic times. The central message of the Selichot Service lie in the thirteen attributes of "Divine Mercy." In other words, in accordance with Jewish tradition each sin committed by a person can actually be removed by an equal "good deed." Therefore, no sin (according to Jewish Law) is unforgivable, since G-d is greater than any sin that mankind is capable of committing.
During this prayer -- Shemah Kolenu -- the Ark is opened and the entire congregation stands. The cantor sings with fervour and passion these words:
ENGLISH TRANSLATION-
"Hear our voice, Hashem, our G-d, have pity and compassion on us,
and accept our prayer.
Bring us back, Hashem, and we shall return to You, renew our days as of old.
Hear our words, Hashem, perceive our thoughts.
May they find favor -- the expressions of our mouth and the thoughts of our heart --
before You, Hashem, our Rock and our Redeemer.
Do not cast us away from your presence,
and do not take from us the spirit of your holiness.
Do not cast us away in the time of old age;
forsake us not when our strength does fail us.
Forsake us not, Oh Hashem, our G-d;
be not distant to us"

Tzahal29 Sh'ma Jisrael (Hark Israel (when the heart is cryin
Hark Israel, the Lord is our God
The Lord is One
Blessed is Hius holy Name
Our King forever
(Deuteronomium 6:4 and more)
Hoor Israël, de Heere is onze God
De Heere is één
Gezegend is Zijn heilige Naam
Onze Koning voor eeuwig
(Deuteronomium 6:4 en meer)
Tzahal, the Israëlian Defence Forces music group, is the continueing development of King David's (Sion / Jerusalem 1040-1000 before Christ) singers. Sometimes they perform in The Netherlands, for instance on Wednesday 27 February 2008 in Drachten in the beautiful Friesland province in The Netherlands. Guess how many water lily leaves the Friesland flag has! ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Friesland ). You might like to see seven hearts instead of seven water lily leaves. Drachten has two twin towns: Kiryat Ono in Israel and Gobabis in Namibia. Two Tzahal members are from Kiryat Ono.
Two very important numbers in the bible are 7 and 12 (menora, sons of Jacob, disciples). When The Netherlands came into being, it had 7 provinces. Now it has 12 provinces. Its development was crowned by the 12th one Flevoland with its capital Lelystad ("Lily-city"). Salomons temple had two pillars, Jacin and Boaz which were crowned by ... lilies.
The centuries old Dutch anthem reflects the ties between The Netherlands and Israël, one verse reads:
When David had to fly
for tyrant Saul,
so I had to sigh
like many a nobleman.
But God did raise him,
delivered from all distress,
and gave him a very
big kingdom, Israel.
Or what about the first verse
William of Nassau
I am, of Dutch blood
True to my fatherland
I'll be till I die.
What about Judges 5:18 "Zebulun was a people that jeoparded their lives unto the death"? In the 10-tribes theory, the Zebulon prophecies and blessings count for Het Netherlands (and Belgium, I guess), that's why the Dutch "shall offer sacrifices of righteousness: For they shall suck the abundance of the seas, And the hidden treasures of the sand." (Deutoronomium 33:19) forever.
in Israël zeer groot.
