Despite suffering from a sore throat, M.I.A. (Maya Arulpragasam) powers through "Sunshowers" from her album "Arular" and "20 Dollar ($20)" from her album "Kala" at Lollapalooza 2007 in Grant Park, Chicago, on August 3, 2007. "$20" uses the lyrics to Pixies' "Where Is My Mind" while sampling the melody of New Order's "Blue Monday." Freaky. At the start of the video, she gets in a few sly jabs at American immigration for the snafus that kept her from recording "Kala" in the U.S. and later forced her to cancel shows because they wouldn't grant her a work visa. Also, don't forget to check out my videos of M.I.A.'s concert at the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles the following November. (okeastron)

M.I.A. performs her 2004 cut from album "Arular" for fans at the ACL festival in Austin, Texas.
"Sunshowers" is the second single from M.I.A.'s critically acclaimed album Arular and her first official release with XL Recordings. It is written by Maya Arulpragasam, Ross Orton, Steve Mackey, August Darnell and Stony Jr. Browder and produced by Maya Arulpragasam, Nesreen Shah, Steve Mackey, Ross Orton and Anthony Whiting. The song samples Dr. Buzzard's Original Savannah Band's "Sunshower".
" "Sunshowers" is about how in the news the world is being divided into good and evil with this axis of evil and terrorism thing, so the song is asking:

The music video for "Sunshowers" was directed by Rajesh Touchriver and filmed in the jungles of South India.
The song faced censorship controversies on TV and radio, and was banned from MTV after M.I.A. refused to remove the lines: "you wanna go? you wanna winna war? Like PLO, I don't surrendo" for airplay.[1]
