The Digital Tweezers - A Precise Selection Technique for Mul
The size of the human finger makes it difficult for the user to precisely manipulate small elements on Touch Screens. We present a virtual Tool called "Digital Tweezers". It helps users point, select and drag interactive elements of the size of a few pixels. The tool consists of a cursor with a fixed offset controlled by the thumb and index finger of one hand. To "click" an Element, the middle finger is used to trigger a button. Using the offset technique the tool allows a hover state on touch screens [Verstehe ich nicht, wieso hilft mir beim "Hovern" der Offset?]. The "Digital Tweezers" combines all the advantages of previous approaches and it doesn't suffer from major disadvantages identified in recent works. We implemented our design on a rudimentary multi-touch tabletop prototype that offers computer vision-based tracking. Therefore our design is usable on any multi-touch sensing device.
