The Borderline single reached number 2 in the UK and was Top 10 in the US. This was the first video that Madonna made with Mary Lambert.
The "look" of Madonna's first videos became an icon of the pop culture and a reference in the 80's fashion and style.

80's Videoclips - Madonna - OPEN YOUR HEART (1986)
"Open Your Heart" is a song by Madonna. It was the fourth single from her album True Blue.
"True Blue" is the third studio album by Madonna, released in 1986. The album became Madonna's biggest selling studio album internationally. It was certified at 7x platinum, denoting sales of 7 million in the US alone, and more tha 20 million worldwide. On its release, True Blue reached number one in twenty-eight countries. The five singles released from the True Blue Album reached the number 1 in the UK or the US singles chart. "Papa Don't Preach" was number 1 in UK and US, "Open Your Heart" and "live to Tell" were number 1 in The US and "La Isla Bonita" and "True Blue" reached number one in the Uk list.
"Open Your Heart" was produced by Madonna and Patrick Leonard. The video was directed by Jean-Baptiste Mondino.

Evidentemente, el éxito del disco insta a la EMI a grabar rápidamente el primer álbum del grupo, pues hay que aprovechar el Girón de ventas. El álbum vera la luz en octubre de 1988, bajo el titulo El mar no cesa, e incluye las siguientes canciones: Mar adentro, Hace tiempo, Fuente esperanza, La lluvia gris, Flor venenosa, Agosto, El estanque, La isla de las iguanas, 16, y Héroe de leyenda. La edición del CD incluirÃa Olvidado y La visión de vuestras almas. El álbum descubrirÃa, aunque no en su plenitud, la fuerte personalidad musical del grupo, t sus señas de identidad; el inconfundible sonido de las guitarras de Juan Valdivia y la especifica forma de cantar de Enrique Bunbury. Se grabo con el mismo Productor, por lo que el resultado es similar al del mini LP: producción correcta, aunque un tanto blanda y lineal, y sin explotar las posibilidades que el grupo manifestaba en directo.
