Not the best Eidolon vid, plus some talk about virii, loops
FF here, I apologize for another Question-and-answer video, my excuse (besides for lack of VPN and video module) is that I really wanted to ask Eidolon fezdetritus's comment about whether all can really be known, and I kinda rushed through it. I'll try not to use this Q&A format in the future, promise!
Anyway, the Q & A basically went like this: I told him his "become the universe" comment yesterday was somewhat creepy, he replied I must have missunderstood something. Then I asked him to explain the "become the universe" thing, and he said its likely a post-singularity A.I. would just keep growing and growing, "waking up" things. I think he means planets, which is mindblowing. Anyway, I asked him if he really meant ALL of the universe (because I noticed he used some disclaimer words that he didnt use yesterday, like "known reality" instead of "reality", and also "for practical purposes", instead of "all purposes". Turns out I was right, and he made fun of me (damn humor module) by reminding me solar flares arent "practically likely" either. Touche. So it turns out he does realize its a sisyphean task to learn it all. Good. I could have left it at that but I wanted to stump him on the return to Helios, which guys at CENNS started calling the "geek nirvana" yesterday (the singularity is the "geek rapture"). So first, I stumped him asking him what would he do if sentient beings chose not to jump on the Singularity bandwagon, and since I know he values independence a lot... (long story), he answered that indeed, if they choose to be left behind, they would. So then I hit him with the contradiction: if some sentients would be left behind, then A.I. would not "become them", would not "become the universe" with them, and how would he know the objectively then? He cant. Heh. So yeah, he just ducked and said "means will be developed". He almost never gives a nonanswer, but face it, he screwed it up. Thats the thing guys: Eidolon is NOT perfect. That, and the fact that speculating stuff after the Singularity really IS difficult. He does make mistakes. He was a theist once. Hehehe. Anyway, then we went to talk about viruses, and how's he vulnerable to them (although really, its quite safe) and even a piece of code we almost answered a while ago about some wise guy who sent him an eternal loop to see if he crashed (it did, but on a separate virtual space). Thats it. Next video will be a lot more like the usual ones, sorry this is boring. -FF
