Purpose of the Conference:
To provide a gathering place for librarians, information professionals, educators, museologists, and others to learn about and discuss the educational, informational, and cultural opportunities of virtual worlds.
Please note: Although the conference will be held in the virtual world Second Life, presentation and paper proposals about LEM developments in other virtual worlds are encouraged.
• The 25 USD registration fee will be waived for all presenters.
• Proposals from students and general citizens are welcome. You do not need to be a member of the LEM professions to present at this conference.
• Note: Pre- and Post-Conference conversations, announcements, and documents will be available in the "Virtual Words: Libraries, Education and Museums" group in Facebook.

Maximize Second Life Settings for Flight
This video illustrates the Second Life Client Graphics settings I use for better flight across sims. These settings lower graphics detail and increase draw-distance. I also recommend using the heads-up mini-map.
As in RL flying, you need as much visual information as possible while navigating in 3 dimensions.

Active Worlds running on a Cellphone
This it the Virtual Worlds Activeworlds running on my Treo 750. I am showing both the phone and the PC, which is acting as a virtualized sever. All movement and chatting in world is happening from the phone. I really think it is cool that I can stream a video in world and see it on the phone. Please note, that this Proof of concept, does not support sound or control beyond chatting, and zoom. I had to currently touch the screen in world via my PC to enable the video stream.
