Vivisection
Toutes les espèces animales sont utilisées en expérimentation animale. Lors de ces expérimentations, soit les animaux meurent dans des conditions de douleur intense, soit ils sont sacrifiés à la fin de l'expérimentation pour des analyses post-mortem (prélèvements d'organes ou de tissus en vue d'examens ou analyses, des dégâts provoqués par la substance...), soit ils sont euthanasiés car les lésions causés par l'expérience sont trop importantes et ils ne sont plus viables. Même le lot témoin (qui ne subit aucun traitement) sera sacrifié afin de comparer les analyses d'autopsie.Il arrive également qu'un animal soit « ré-utilisé » pour une deuxième expérience. Mais, il ne peut selon la législation européenne, sauf exception justifiée, être procédé sans anesthésie ou analgésique à plus d'une intervention douloureuse par animal !
Selon la législation française et européenne, les tests sur les animaux sont obligatoires pour s'assurer de l'innocuité des médicaments, des produits chimiques, des cosmétiques ...
L'expérimentation animale est aussi pratiquée en recherche, dans l'enseignement et l'armement. Mais dans ces domaines, aucune législation n'existe. Seuls l'expérimentateur et le laboratoire doivent avoir une autorisation pour expérimenter. Les protocoles ne sont pas réglementés et laissés au libre choix de l'expérimentateur.
Dans les laboratoires, les animaux sont empoisonnés légalement : test d'irritation (peau, œil), mutagénicité, génotoxicité, toxicité aiguë (voie orale, dermique, inhalation) et toxicité à doses répétées, toxicocinétique, cancérogénicité, toxicité pour la reproduction, neurotoxicité, immunotoxicité
Les expérimentations les plus connues sont :
Le test de Draize : ce test est pratiqué le plus souvent sur des lapins, mais il peut aussi être appliqué sur des chiens ou des singes. La tête maintenue dans un carcan, l'animal reçoit dans les yeux des produits chimiques. Il peut arriver que les yeux soient maintenus ouverts de force, par des écarteurs métalliques. Les lésions de la cornée sont étudiées sur plusieurs jours, l'animal étant vivant. Les traumatismes varient de la démangeaison jusqu'à la crevaison de l'oeil. Le test d'irritation de la peau : L'animal est rasé, puis sa peau et incisée. Dans les plaie sont appliqué les produits à tester (crème, parfum, etc.) Puis l'animal est laissé dans sa cage, sans soins, afin d'observer les lésions et leurs importances.Test de photo-toxicité : On expose à des lampes ultraviolets des rongeurs épilés et enduits du produit à tester afin d'évaluer les réactions de ce produit aux rayons solaires.

Britches - Baby Monkey Rescued From Vivisection Lab
This is the story of Britches, a baby monkey who was shut blind from her birth for some cruel stupid experiment.
She's been rescued from ALF animal liberation front, and now she's starting a new life, being adopted by a new mother monkey.
This video was produced in 1986 by PETA tv, now some volunteers of PETA have been found killing animals, but yet this movie deserves to be seen. Gives me hope.

This is Vivisection!

I have seen so many of these 'undercover videos' from animal rights groups, such as PeTA and ALF which shows pictures and videos of animal abuse in research labs. Then people put them together and make a slide show with some emo music playing in the background.
Here is the parody of those videos.
Although some times footage of abuse was filmed, leading to prosecutions, many such vidoes contain set up animal abuse, done by the 'undercover agents' themselves. Take the case of the Silver Spring Monkeys, which were pictures of monkeys struggling to get out of restraint chairs distributed by PeTA, captioned with "This is Vivisection. Don't let anyone tell you different". Those photos were taken by Alex Pacheco, founding member of PeTA, who worked undercover in the lab. He made sure monkeys were uncomfortable and stressed for the photos. His job as an animal technician was to keep the animals well fed, happy and clean. His reports about filth in the lab was due to his neglect.
Tactics like this are still used. Animals filmed are stressed by sudden human presence (I know my rats would jump around and try to hide, looking very distressed if some random person barged in, made loud noises, turned the lights on and smelt of other predictor animals, all of which make rats stressed).
This is not to say animals just *looooove* being experimented on, just like they don't like being eaten, being on the street or put down because of irresponsible 'pet ownership'. Many people do care about animal welfare, which is NOT animal rights. Yet animal rights groups know this, yet they mislead the public about animal welfare in the lab. Animal rights wastes its resources on doing things like protesting against the non-vegetarian menu at an animal welfare origination's event, dribbled in fake blood and protesting about dead animals on the menu, while animal welfare is out there prosecuting those who abuse animals and legally rescue and rehome them.
If people are abusing animals in the lab (there are arseholes everywhere, they can be a scientist, a doctor, a cop, whatever), report them and let the law do the work.
