Noir (Jazzy Intro)
(I had to shorten the intro down a little bit so that the music I chose would stay in sync with what was happening. Noir had great music in it, but if the series continued or had a movie, they should use some jazzy flavor for Mireille and Kirika)
"Nothin' personal...just business"...
In the fictional universe, this is the motto for every contract killer that has been seen in almost every form of entertainment: comic books, movies, novels and even on t.v. Mireille Bouquet is no exception to this rule: a cool, calculating hitwoman with a twinkle in her eye and a ruthless personality to match, Mireille lets her targets know through her actions that it's nothing personal on her part, it's all business...especially while they're staring at the business end of her silenced Walther. But what happens when a professional lets their emotions get in the way of their work? The answer: it's no longer strictly business...it's strictly personal.
In the anime drama 'Noir', Mireille Bouquet is gonna learn that the hard way when a haunting melody and a chance encounter with an amnesiac named Kirika Yumura sets her on a path for pain and judgment. Kirika is a young girl who doesn't have a clue who she is or where she comes from, but she does know that she possesses the skills of a dangerous person. Mireille suspects that Kirika may hold the key to an unsolved mystery from her childhood: her exile from her home in Corsica after her parents (who were top dogs in the underworld) met with an unfortunate accident. As they put the pieces of the puzzle together, Mireille finds herself changing in more ways than one, when emotions start awakening inside of her that she thought she had stamped out of existence years ago. Even more, she finds herself opening up a little bit more and doing something she never thought she'd do: trusting Kirika, a total stranger who doesn't know anything about herself, but knows a lot about Mireille emotionally.
Noir is one of my favorite anime dramas because it doesn't focus on just killing...it's not even about death. It does however, focus on the following:
-Life and how with a little time, old wounds from the past can be healed.
-Noir is like a game of chess: Mireille and Kirika know that the key to winning isn't based on who makes the first move, but who survives the last.
